About
Joy is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with more than 15 years of experience, primarily serving as a dietitian for the U.S. Army. Her clinical background centers on eating disorders. She is passionate about helping her clients establish their own values related to food, weight and movement. In addition to one to one client sessions, she facilitates eating‑disorder recovery support groups through the National Alliance for Eating Disorders, supporting individuals and families throughout the recovery process.
Approach to Care
Joy supports each client’s personal autonomy by guiding them in making decisions that reflect their own beliefs, needs, and values. She encourages clients to challenge health‑ism and internalized weight bias. Joy works with a non-diet approach, and provides a balance of goal setting, accountability and curiosity and helps clients avoid the shame spiral that often accompanies health practices.
What to Expect
In a first session with Joy, clients can expect a collaborative, grounded conversation focused on understanding their goals, values, and lived experiences She takes time to map out their diet history, current challenges, and what autonomy and well‑being mean to them. She introduces a weight‑neutral, relationship‑centered approach to care. She balances clear direct goal setting with openness and collaboration.
