About

Christina is a Registered Dietitian specializing in diabetes management. As a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, she has extensive experience working with people living with diabetes. She is passionate about helping you figure out how nutrition, physical activity, and medications work together to bring your blood sugars into the target range. Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been living with diabetes for decades, she would be happy to join you on your journey toward successful self-management. Christina is well-versed in diabetes medications and technology, including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors. Her expertise extends well beyond diabetes management to include other related conditions, such as weight management, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. She would also be delighted to see anyone desiring general nutrition advice. If you have nutrition questions, Christina has answers!

Approach to Care

Christina's counseling approach is easygoing and encouraging. She keeps appointments interesting with her energy and enthusiasm. She hopes that her bright personality will bring a touch of joy to your day! Christina is down to earth and is definitely not the food police; she understands that we are all human and need to eat an Oreo every now and again! Having diabetes does not mean that any food has to be off the table. Rather, she will work with you to figure out how to fit the foods you love into your life! Christina also aims to keep things simple; diabetes is a complex condition, but managing it doesn't have to be.

What to Expect

During your first session, Christina will take the time to get to know you and listen to what you are aiming to accomplish. During follow-up sessions, she will look at what you are currently doing and how that aligns with scientifically supported recommendations for blood sugar management. Christina will work with you to interpret and adapt the guidelines to fit your individual lifestyle. She will start with foundational concepts and build up to more advanced topics at each successive session. Busting nutrition myths will definitely happen along the way, as there is so much junk on the internet these days! Christina will spend time discussing how your blood sugars are running, how you are feeling, and what is (or isn't) working well. Her goal is to ensure you gain the knowledge and skills needed to successfully manage your diabetes as you live your life. She very much looks forward to utilizing humor, honesty, and encouragement to guide you toward your nutrition goals!
